More Than Just an Award

Attending the Georgian College Scholarship Show was such a rewarding and memorable experience. Being surrounded by so many talented designers, each bringing their own perspective and creativity, made the entire event feel inspiring and a little surreal. Sharing my work in that space, alongside 10–15 other strong students, pushed me to reflect on how much I’ve grown—not just as a designer, but as a person.

I was incredibly honoured to receive the Excellence in Studio Award, not just once, but in both 2024 and 2025. Being recognized two years in a row, especially in a group of such skilled peers, means a lot to me. It’s a reminder that the time, effort, and passion I’ve put into my work is being seen and appreciated. Moments like that can feel validating in a field that’s often very subjective.

Beyond the recognition, the scholarship itself had a real impact on my journey. Receiving the $1,000 award helped support my education and allowed me to focus more on my work and less on financial stress. It gave me the opportunity to invest back into my schooling—whether that’s materials, tools, or simply the ability to dedicate more time to developing my skills.

Overall, the experience left me feeling motivated and excited for what’s ahead. It reminded me why I chose this path in the first place and encouraged me to keep pushing myself creatively. I’m truly grateful to have been a part of it, and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow as I move forward in my design career.
